A Note from Annette’s Desk::::::
Based on our state’s economy, we have all been faced with many challenges. Amazingly though, people are still traveling and boarding their pets with us. I want to thank you for the continual business. We could not have completed another successful year without you and the many referrals. We at Orion Kennel Club continue to strive to offer the basic services required to meet your needs: boarding and grooming. We have attained twenty years (two decades), and new generations of pets are coming through our doors. Thank you.
Being certified is something that is vital for Orion Kennel Club staff since you entrust us with your animals, and we take the job seriously. Our staff is trained in first aid for canine/felines through the America Red Cross Association. We are considering offering such classes for you and your family members. This would be something beneficial to any pet owner. Preparing your house, car traveling tips and first aid education is something we may offer in the near future. Keep checking our website for additional details.
Grooming Notes:::::
Did you know that all canines (large and small) have anal glands that are naturally expressed every time your pet defecates? That is one of the many ways nature creates the canine body. When a canine defecates, a personalized scent (in an oily substance) is expressed out. This is left for any passerby’s to know who is in the area. If a pet is healthy, eats a good diet and was built to perfection, then this is a daily occurrence.
When a pet comes in for grooming at Orion Kennel Club, Inc., our highly trained groomers check and clean anal glands. They can assist with emptying such glands, wash the bum area, along with the whole body, to ensure no greasy residue or scent is left behind. Your canine has a clean scent once all grooming is complete. Our groomers have offered this service as a courtesy. Most grooming shops don’t extend such services since this takes a kind, gentle handling.
Our groomers are not veterinarians. If you know that your pet has anal gland problems, please make our groomers aware of it. We do not want to cause any discomfort for your animals. If one of our groomers cleans this area unaware of any problem, this may cause more attention to the area and encourage your pet to lick and/or scoot. This, in turn, could cause more serious problems.
Please; we have always encouraged dialog with our trained staff, and we ask that you keep us posted on your pet’s medical issues so further problems are avoided. Our groomers handle your pet from top to bottom. If you’re pet has any health concerns that would be important for our groomers to know, we ask that you share this information with our staff. Please talk to our groomers (they take calls between 9-9:30 a.m. if you should have any questions).
Orion Kennel Club, Inc., keeps their website up to date to better serve our customers. Please refer to it for any details you may want to know about Orion Kennel Club, Inc, as well as any specials we may be running. We will soon have a brief survey that we encourage you all to complete. It will only take a few moments to fill in!!! We welcome your opinions.
Have peaceful rest of the year and best wishes for the year 2008…………….Sincerely….Annette
